bannerJules Rendell is a singer/songwriter

IMG_2025This soulful young British artist grew up among many different musical influences. From her parents record collection came the likes of Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, Marvin Gaye and all his Motown friends.

Jules was a first instrument cellist, and so was attracted to orchestral music and classical song, but while studying voice at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England she was mostly drawn to sing with the college Big Bandand there discovered a love of jazz.

She began writing songs at 19, needing an outlet of self-expression that classical music didn’t allow, and after finishing music college, she left classical music for her roots in soul and gospel.

Since then, Jules has had the opportunity to sing for some established artists such as, Gorillaz, Keane, Beverley Knight, Nicole Scherzinger, Andrew Lloyd Webber and upcoming soul artist JP Cooper, as well as arranging for and travelling across the world with various gospel and vocal groups. // Jules Rendell – The Lotus Bloom

“Jules’ five-track EP, The Lotus Bloom, puts her somewhere near Minnie Riperton in style: not for her the belt-it-out and snarl approach, more the exquisitely measured, deftly placed emotional squeeze of someone who’s interested in delivering you the message in the song.” Echoes Magazine

“Jules Rendell makes music that pours with instrumentality, and melds well with her tender, almost airy voice.”

“With an undeniable control over her voice, you are hooked the moment she starts singing.” Feeder Mag
